Coffee & Caffeine

neon-coffee-cup.jpg Killing time looking for coffee and caffeine  trivia as I sit here at the airport waiting for a friend to arrive.

For instance did you know?

  • Caffeine level of 3-4 cups of roast coffee is equal to 6 servings of colas or 5 cups of tea?
  • The caffeine level in a 3.5 oz dark chocolate bar is equal to a cup of roast coffee
  • Chemical name for caffeine is 3,7-dihydro-1,3,7-trimethyl-1H-purine-2,6,-dione OR 1,3,7-trimethylxanthine (wouldn't, no couldn't make this one up. There's a reason I wasn't a chemistry whiz)
  • You start feeling the effect of caffeine within 15 minutes of drinking your first sip.
  • It takes 6 hours for half the caffeine from a cup of coffee to clear out of your body. I don't know about you but it seems the effect of caffeine from one cup has vanished long before six hours pass.
  • Drinking coffee at night reduces driving impairment and does not alter sleep

Bottom line if you  want to get your brain and body going? Drink coffee.

Well, they just announced my friend's plane, so I'm off.  We'll grab some breakfast and great coffee before our meeting.

 Not the usual grind,
