First Cup Of Coffee Of The Day
You know morning just doesn't seem right without that first cup. But no matter the news or online reports, it's always a great taste. That is if I make it myself or go to one the good coffee shops. Every city and town has them, where coffee is hot and good. It doesn't taste burnt, watery or ______(you fill in the blank).
More research in prep for the tasting thing at the end of the month. Coffees are divided into three main types:
- Brazils: These make up most of the grocery brand of coffee beans and instant coffee. Most of the beans are the arabica grown in locations other than Brazil. There are some quality beans from Brazil but the term is used to name lower quality beans with less flavor and aroma than the Milds.
- Milds: This is one of those confusing terms as the coffees in this group are not all mild. These beans make up the premium brands of beans and the speciality coffee market. These beans grown in the higher mountains and are the highest priced arabica beans.
- Robusta : is a different variety of coffee plant grown in Africa. It has a higher percentage of caffeine in the bean than the Milds. Robusta beans are used for grocery store brands and instant coffees. Robusta has come to dominate price sensitive markets as it is less expensive to grow and more disease resistant. However in terms of taste and aroma it ranks third in the group.
My first cup's done and it's time to start work. What are your favorite coffee shops where you live or travel? I'm always up for learning of new ones as it gives me a chance to check them out when I travel. Let me know your favorite coffee shop and why you think it's good. Look forward to your suggestions.
Not the usual grind,
Tip of the coffee mug to Alicja Michalik for the use of the photo.
